How to root Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 GT-I8160

In this tutorial we are going to guide you how to root Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 GT-I8160 (running on android 4.1.2 only).

Before following the tutorial below, we want to inform you that this tutorial only works if your Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 GT-I8160 is running on Android 4.1.2 (baseband I8160XXMC8). To check the Android Version on your Phone: Open Settings > About Phone.

Step 1: Download and install Samsung USB Drivers on your computer. In case Samsung USB Driver is already installed on your computer then skip this step.

Step 2: Download Root file (1.37 MB) on your computer and move it on your Phone’s External Memory (SD card).

Step 3: Disconnect your Phone from the computer and Switch-Off the phone.

Step 4: Now, you need to boot into Recovery Mode. To boot into Recovery Mode: Press and hold Volume Up Key, Home Button and Power key at same time for 7-10 seconds (you have to press and hold all three buttons at same time) until recovery mode is active.

Step 5: In recovery mode, Select Apply update from external Storage using Volume Up and Down Button.

Step 6: Now locate the Root file, that you have transferred to the phone’s external memory and Press Power Button to confirm.

Step 7: Once Flashing is completed, Select Reboot System Now.

Once your phone is restarted, Go to Applications Menu and Search for SuperSU application. If you find SuperSU app on your Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 GT-I8160, then it means your phone is rooted successfully.

Optional: You can also verify the root status of your device by using the Root Checker Application.
